Chuzzle Christmas Edition is an extremely fun yet easy-to-learn game, and now is releasing its Christmas Edition, as many other classic games. It’s pretty much the same than prior editions so if you are a previous user of Chuzzle, maybe you don’t need to read this review. On the other hand, for those who don’t know Chuzzle, let’s describe this cute game.
The name Chuzzle comes from its “pieces / protagonists”. The game is basically about creating matches of three-in-a-row or more “chuzzles”, which are a kind of color hairy balls with two big eyes on it. There are alive, or pretend to be, so while you are playing these balls can move and even blink.
These “chuzzle” things are arranged on a board of six times six of them, mixed up in different colors. The way in which you can try to create matches and score points is by dragging the chuzzles here and there. The tricky part is that you don’t move a single chuzzle but the whole row or column in which the chuzzle is located. If you move sideways, the row moves; if you move up and down, the column moves. In order to create a match, you don’t need to line up three chuzzles, it’s enough to get three of them in adjacent positions. When you create a match, the chuzzles involved disappear from the board and the chuzzles around rearrange. Sometimes, it can trigger a chain reaction creating in turn new matches and getting you more points.
The game offers four game modes. Let’s know about them:
1. Classic Mode: this is the basic mode and works as commented above.
2. Speed Chuzzle: this mode is pretty much the same than Classic, only here you have a certain amount of time to create a match. If you miss the opportunity, a random chuzzle on the board will be locked and you won’t be able to move its row and column anymore.
3. Zen Chuzzle: the same than Classic Mode but with some extra large chuzzles on the board. One extra large chuzzle is the size of four regular chuzzles.
4. Mind Bender: this mode is almost a different kind of game. It’s a 2D version of the classic magic cube. You are given a certain arrangement of colors and beginning from a mixed up board you have to emulate it.
You can try this game for free for a period of 1 hour. After that the trial will be block and you’ll have to either buy a license or uninstall the program. It’s a very affordable game, for only $ 14,95.
